Barry O’Connor

Barry is currently in rehearsal for  The Abbey Theatre production of ‘By The Bog Of Cats’ by Marina Carr, directed by Selina Cartmell. He will star in ‘Oedipus’ in a new version by Wayne Jordan for Dublin Theatre Festival 2015. He is also researching and developing ITS NOT OVER for Project Arts Centre and THEATREclub in 2016

Barry graduated with a degree in acting from Trinity College Dublin in 2007. He also studied at the Roy Hart Centre, France.

Since then, his theatre credits include,  The Importance of Being Earnest at The Abbey Theatre, a national tour of Alone it Stands and a national tour of Macbeth, Loose Canon’s A Midsummer’s Nights Dream? and the award winning Phaedra’s Love. Most recent theatre work includes Clear The Air in Theatre Upstairs and The King’s Feet in the Dublin Fringe Festival and ‘Twelfth Night’ directed by Wayne Jordan at The Abbey Theatre.

For  THEATREclub;  THE FAMILY, TWENTY TEN, HISTORY and HEROIN,  for which he received an ABSOLUT Fringe Best Actor nomination in 2010. Barry will direct ITS NOT OVER for Project Arts Centre in 2016.

TV and film credits include two seasons on Fair City as Ian Walsh, HBO’s Game Of Thrones and The Tudors as Sir William Pennington and Peter Sheridan’s The Borstal Boy.
