It’s like the time Don Draper wrote the letter to the New York Times

Facebook is awash this morning with a speech given by Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith. It’s an amazing coup of a project and we are dying to get over and see some work in London when things are all go.

Over the coming year a company of actors, writers, dramaturgs, directors and designers will be working with the Lyric to create something special. In the spirit of secrecy we won’t be telling you the name of the shows or who is playing who. There’ll be some classics, some adaptations and some new plays. We don’t know how many shows there’ll be or how long they’ll be on for.

So we forgot to tell you but

We are going to be performing in Belfast This Tuesday 4th June as part of 15 Minutes from Accidental Theatre. It’s a Mini Festival of Miniature work. All the pieces are only 15 minutes long.

We’re not going to say what our piece is about but it’s something that we’ve made specifically for this event. Our show is called We Can Talk About This Here.

We never usually make work like this. It’s usually over a much longer period. We’ve made this piece in response to a particular issue. In response. All our work is in response to something but never so quickly. It’s been an interesting process.

Here’s how we’ve described it. Keep an eye out for more.

THEATREclub have no idea what we’re doing. It’s all very sudden and it’s rushed. We have to travel to another country for this. Jesus Christ Almighty.There’s no point in even going to Belfast. Have to go further afield. You’d be better off in Liverpool or one of them. Johannesburg or Toronto or New Delhi. Not in fucking Dublin. Not here in Ireland. Sure of course not.

So just watched the Pilot Episode of a TV called The Commute. It’s couples in their car on the morning of Valentine’s. Really Irish, totally relatable and a lot of fun.

U-R-HAMLET-TOO

Get yourself to Project Arts Centre this week to see Conor Madden (who you may remember from Twenty Ten).

A show all about what connects us all together. And about apples. And about how it’s for some reason impossible for us to imagin ourselves being all that we could/should be. A hit.

Conor is an actor of extraordinary talent and a new theatre maker who does very special things. Don’t miss it/out!

Worth a look for sure

Tom Walsh is one of those alternative comedian theatre people. He’s smart he’s funny and reassuringly handsome too. Tall, not quite dark but definitely handsome. But look, that’s neither here nor there.

He is performing a full length version of his show TALK in The International Bar as a warm up to his run in Brighton really soon. It’s on Monday 26th at 6pm and it’s for $0.

He presented a work in progress showing as part of THE THEATRE MACHINE TURNS YOU ON and he had everybody in stitches and also left us all scratching our heads.

The amazing people over at The Performance Corporation have put together a whopper few days over the August Bank Holiday Weekend in the be-be-beautiful Castletown House. It’s called the BIG HOUSE FESTIVAL Theatre, live music, visual art and all sorts of crazy happenings and loads and loads more.
